Posted by Nikolaj Vincent, 05 July 2012
Last nite marked a milestone for CCP Games, launching their first ever spaceship into the lower atmosphere over Iceland through their space program “Skyward Sphere”.

The launch progressed as planned, with the Rifter touching down again after reaching an approximate 100,000 feet altitude.
This is the second launch made by CCP Games through their space program, and more launches are expected in the future. The first launch was executed on may 9th 2012.

I started gaming in the 90's but was introduced to MMO's in early 2005 when I started adventuring in Star Wars Galaxies.
In 2008 I was nominated by players to become a player representative in SOE's Senate program. I did that from 2008 till 2010 for several successfull terms and many changes that was requested by players and passed on by me was indeed implemented. While the role was voluntary, I estimate that the travel cost associated to representing players excelled ~5,000 USD during the entirety of the period. Biggest spending being a cross atlantic flight to attend Fan Faire 2010 and present developers with a list of problems that the game faced.
In 2010 I decided to step down from the program while I maintained a role in SOE's Community Council til 2011 - an exclusive group of 60 players wanted for their ability to effectively communicate feedback about upcoming products to the developers.
